RUNNIN FOR COLE
TEAM HISTORY
|
2002 |
Runnin For Cole formed in 2002 and participated in the
Relay For Life of Mililani. Twelve
friends rallied around team captain Keith Ellison after he found out his
nephew, Cole Spillman, had been diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer at
just six months of age. In their
charter year Runnin For Cole raised a little over $1,200. |

2003
|
In 2003 we doubled our efforts
and fielded two teams (Runnin For Cole and Runnin For Cole Too), 26 members,
in the Relay for Life of Mililani. We
also got more organized and planned several fundraisers (a carwash and a
couple of lunch sales). Our
organization paid off and Runnin For Cole raised just over $3,500 in its
second year. Both teams made the
Bronze Club for raising over $1500. |

2004
|
In 2004 we doubled our efforts again and fielded four teams
(Runnin For Cole, Runnin For Cole Too, Runnin For Cole also, and Runnin For
Cole again), 58 members, in the Relay for Life of Central Oahu (formerly the
Relay for Life of Mililani). We got
even more organized and planned over 20 fundraisers which raised just over
$11,800 for the Runnin For Cole Teams in 2004. Additionally, we had two team member serve
on the Relay For Life of Central Oahu planning committee, two member selected
to do a presentation on fundraising during the Hawaii Relay University, and
one of our members featured in a photo that was selected as the winner in the
fundraising category in the 2004 National Relay For Life Photo contest (photo
is featured in the 2005 American Cancer Society Relay For Life calendar).
All four teams made the Silver Club for raising over $2500. |

2005
|
For
2005 we have again increased our efforts and will field five teams for the
Central Oahu Relay For Life. In addition to our four teams returning
from last year (Runnin For Cole, Runnin For Cole Too, Runnin For Cole Also
and Runnin For Cole Again) we will also be fielding a Virtually Runnin For
Cole team made up of past team members that have moved to new duty stations
on the east coast and Korea, service members deployed in support of the
ongoing War on Terror, as well as family members across the United States. Additionally, we had several members serving on the Relay For Live planning committee, as well as giving seminars on team leadership, fundraising and organization. Although we fell well short of our ambitious goal of raising $30,000 for the 2005 Relay, the Runnin For Cole teams raised over $8500; four teams made Bronze Club and one made Silver Club. |
