| I Relay because cancer has been
especially hard on my family.
I lost both of my grandfathers, Porter Ellison and Lee Wipperman,
to cancer while I was still in school. More recently, I lost an uncle,
Thomas Ellison, and had another uncle, Reaford
Ellison, diagnosed with lung cancer (currently in remission). When Cole, my nephew, was
diagnosed with cancer at six months of age I just had to do
something. I asked some
friends to join me and we formed a team, Runnin For Cole, and have been
active in Relay every since.
Cancer will effect all of us in one way or
another; we have decided to fight back!

My Aunt Jane is an incredible woman. Her cancer has been spreading, but you would never be able to guess it from her attitude. She is smart, caring, and hilarious and will surely beat it all. |

I lost my mother to cancer in
September 2001. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1990, then
later diagnosed with bone marrow cancer in 1992. She battled the
disease far longer than the medical experts had predicted, and throughout
the entire fight, the ACS was there to help provide services, support, and
information to not only my mother, but to our whole family as well.
I Relay because I have seen the amazing things that the ACS can do for all
of those who have been affected by cancer, and until we find a cure, I
will do my best to make sure that the ACS will be able to continue with their outstanding services.

| We Relay because cancer has exacted
a heavy toll on our family. We both lost our fathers to cancer
several years ago. More recently we lost Thomas Ellison to brain
cancer and Reaford Ellison was diagnosed with lung cancer, although he has
never smoked a day in his life. Thankfully, Reford is currently in
remission. We were hardest hit; however, when our six month old
grandson, Cole Spillman, was diagnosed with liver cancer. After a
long hard fight he has been in remission for almost three years and will
be four in June. Something has to be done to beat this terrible
disease before it affects other families as it has ours.

| We also Relay because
cancer has hit
our family very hard. Lynn lost both of her grandfathers, Porter
Ellison and Lee Wipperman, when she was young. She lost an uncle,
Thomas Ellison, and had another uncle, Reaford
Ellison, diagnosed with lung cancer (currently in remission). The hardest blow was when our son
Cole was diagnosed with Heptoblastoma, a rare form of childhood
cancer that attacks the liver and lungs, at six months of age. He
had to undergo chemotherapy to shrink a large tumor on his liver, surgery
to remove 2/3 of his liver, and additional chemotherapy. He has been
in remission since September of 2002. The only lasting effects are
hearing lose and a weakened immune system caused by the
chemotherapy. In March 2005, we found out that Scott's Grandmother
(90 years old) has terminal lung cancer. We also lost our faithful
family pet, Fancy Face, to bone marrow cancer. This has to stop; we
must find a cure for cancer!

I Relay because my mother, Wanda Sargent was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years after her sister, Gale, passed away as a result of another type of cancer. Wanda survived and celebrates after every annual mammogram that confirms that she is still cancer free. She has been cancer free since 1986. |

| I Relay because cancer has taken
several of my loved ones from me. I lost my Uncle Kenny in August of
1989 while fighting his second bout with cancer and my Aunt Rosie in April
of 2003 while she was fighting her third bout with cancer.
Additionally, my grandmother was a 13 year breast cancer survivor before
she passed in December of 1999 (non-cancer related). Cancer has
taken too much from me; I will continue to fight against cancer until it
is no longer a threat to our families.

Rocio Silva |
I
relay for my mother, Betty S. Silva, who was diagnosed with breast cancer
in June of 2003. Her Doctor discovered a malignant encapsulated carcinoma,
and she quickly had surgery in July of the same year. After that she
underwent radiotherapy. Luckily, she did not require
chemotherapy. As of now she is still in remission. She comes
from a long line of strong Colombian women; we are sure she will fight to
the end.
